So I'm not really sure why the previous post is dated Friday, July 3. It was definitely Wednesday, July 8. Weird. Oh well, the point is I'm updating my blog within 2 weeks of the previous post, and for that, I am proud of myself.
So Friday, July 10, I got to see David Crowder in concert! It was amazing! Even better, I got to go for free. There's a Christian music event in Oshkosh, Wisconsin called Lifest. It's a 5 day event. People camp out. There's a lot of different bands performing. There's 3 or so different stages. It's kinda like Woodstock but with Christian music and without the marijuana(I think). So anyways, a family from the church won some one day tickets and had an extra one and yours truly took advantage of it and went Friday evening. So before David Crowder, we saw this band called Children 18:3. They're a hard rock punk loud type band. They were talented but not necessarily my thing. However, I'm glad I saw them because I now have a cool story. So on that day, I was wearing my shirt that says "Beat Hawaii" from when Georgia played Hawaii in the Sugar Bowl a couple years ago. I was standing near the back of the crowd, and at one point, the lead singer says "So there's a guy in the back wearing a shirt that says 'Beat Hawaii.'" He then proceeded to talk about the band should sell "Beat Children 18:3" shirts and sell them to people who hate them. But anyways, of course when he pointed me out, everyone turned and looked at me. I felt special, and a little awkward, but mostly special. I wanted to get him to sign the shirt, but I didn't see him after the show. So after that was David Crowder!! I totally have a man crush on David Crowder and am totally not ashamed to admit it. The concert was awesome. He and the band rigged up a guitar hero guitar controller to be used as an actual (well sort of) instrument, and he played it for one song! It was awesome! The best part was that the select button on the guitar made the "Mario coin sound" when pressed. He pressed it a lot, and then he noticed that there was an interpreter there for deaf people, and he pressed the button even more so she would have to keep doing "Mario coin sound" in sign language. It was hilarious. So a couple hours after David Crowder, I saw The Zombie Survival Guide. TZSG is a local Christian metal screamo band featuring some people from the church. Though it's not completely my type of music (I'm fine with the instrumental part; not real big on the screamo part), it was a really fun show. I was impressed by how talented they are (especially the growling/screaming vocals part haha). Saturday night, Tim and I hung out with one of the upcoming 8th graders, Brandon. We went to Pizza Hut and then watched Mythbusters and Shark Week at the church. It was fun. On Sunday, the new Ask the Rapper debuted! It was wonderfully received by thunderous applause! (or something like that). Also, on a sad note, we played Taboo Sunday morning, and I didn't win! :( For the lesson, Tim taught about love: God's love for us and the love we're meant to have for each other. Sunday afternoon, I was an idiot and locked my wallet, cellphone and keys inside the church and had to wait about 2 hours outside for Tim to come back to the church. Yay me! Sunday night, for Jr. High Fun Night, we played Three Blind Mice. It's kinda hard to explain but basically it involved making a maze out of big paper, blindfolding the kids and making them try to find a ball. It was fun. The kids seemed to love it, and I know I was entertained. haha Unfortunately, I can't remember what Tim taught about for the Jr. High devotional. Ok well I still have another week to talk about, but I'm about to leave for Lake Lundgren (a local summer camp). So I'll have to blog about the rest later. Be praying for the week at camp. Tim's gonna be the speaker there this week (and I'm speaking one of the nights). The rest of the time should be a great time to build relationships with teenagers. So anyways, I'm off!
